NSW hoping to defend the title

Perth at night
| Mark Matheson

In 2022, the NSW 40/1's team battled Victoria in the final of the Australian Men's Masters Hockey Championships to emerge victorious and claim their first Over 40's title in over a decade.

At the conclusion of the 2023 NSW Over 34/40's State Championships held in Newcastle in July 2023, the 2023 team was named to attempt to defend the title they worked so hard to win in 2022.

Captained by Lee Cormack and managed by Mark Matheson, the team boasts are large group of experienced campaigners along with two debutants and one player returning after a few years absence from the representative ranks.

For the first time ever, the Men's and Women's Masters Hockey Championships are being held together at the same time and city. Spread across six venues in Perth, WA, the mega-masters includes over 120 teams and roughly 350 games. The sheer size of the championships poses some interesting organisational challenges but promises to be an exciting three weeks of masters hockey.

Follow the NSW 40/1's, and all NSW teams, as they battle for supremacy at the end of September!
