In 2018, the Australian Men's Masters Hockey Championships are split across two venues. In Lismore, the Goonellabah complex boasts two water-based turfs while Ballina has one water-based turf.
The second turf at Goonellabah was only completed a few months ago and the original turf was relaid earlier this season. They should both be nicely worn in by the time the Australian Men's Masters Hockey Championships take to the field in late September.
If you want more information about the venues, the following websites might be of interest: -
Please note that both venues are licensed and no alcohol may be bought into or taken out of the venue. Under NSW Liqour Licensing Laws, any breach of these rules could jeopardise the venues license.
These rules apply to all forms of alcohol including manager and player gifts and unconsumed after-match drinks. The rules cover the venue and parking areas. If you wish to give alcohol as a gift, you must present a card at the after-match gathering, and then arrange to swap it for a bottle of alcohol once you are away from the venue.
Random bag searches may be conducted.
Anyone caught smuggling alcohol will be immediately banned from the championships and risks their entire team being kicked out.
So you know what to expect, I have linked to some photos on the Far North Coast and Ballina Hockey Association websites that show the fields and facilities. Click on any photo to get an expanded view.
